Role title
Team Managers, Captains and Vice Captains.
Brief outline
Manager and/or leader of their respective team(s).
Reports to
Relevant Men's, Women's, Junior Club Captain.
Responsible for
Players within their team.
Key responsibilities
Managers / Captains- Be the point of contact for the team both internally and externally.
- Work collaboratively with the Coaches and other Team Managers/Captains within the section.
- Liaise with the relevant Coaches and other Team Managers/Captains to make weekly team selections via the website from available players inline with the Club Selection Policy.
- Support and be responsible for the team on match days.
- Captains, coaches and managers are responsible for their own conduct and the conduct of their players at all times.
- Home Captains should assume authority for the pitch and surrounding area.
- In the event of Cancellation ensure that the opposition are contacted and made aware at the earliest opportunity.
- Manage “Tea” arrangements.
- Ensure that vocal communication by team officials/players on the bench is not, in any way, directed at the umpires or players of the opposing team.
- Report any breaches of the club’s behavioural code and/or any concerns about players attitude or conduct to the relevant Club Captain.
- Report any safeguarding concerns to the Club Welfare Officer and/or relevant Club Captain.
- Report any pitch/equipment defects to the relevant Club Captain or Facilities Coordinator.
- Update team sheets and match results on the EH Game Management System (GMS)
- Manage match fees via the club website.
- Ensure Umpires are remunerated as per club policy.
- Ensure players where current FHC Match Shirts 2022.
Vice Captains:- Assist and support the Team Captain in all aspects of their role.
- Ensure the pitch and all equipment (goals, dividing nets secured, no litter/foreign objects, adjacent equipment stowed) is ready and safe to play hockey.
- Be responsible for team kit (warm up balls, first aid kits, face-masks, bibs, match ball (home), etc)
- Ensure that players are warmed up and ready to play hockey.
- Post match, ensure the pitch is left tidy and equipment is secured away if no further matches on.

Training / Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge needed
- Ideally a good understanding on the rules and tactics of hockey.
- EH Safeguarding Qualification.
Estimate time required to give for role
3-4 hours per week including weekly match time.
