10. Junior Club Captain (Exec.)


Role title
Junior Club Captain.

Brief outline
Member of the Executive Commitee of the club. Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Junior section by being the link person and co-ordinator between players, coaches and the Executive Committee.

Reports to
Chairperson.

Responsible for
Junior Members (U18) and the Child Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the junior section ensuring that the club is offering hockey to all ages and abilities, demonstrating good practice whilst having fun.
  • Develop and implement the Junior strategy as part of the Club development and action plan, with particular reference to the development of junior players, umpire, young leaders and youth coaches and volunteers.
  • Represent the views and needs of the junior section.
  • Oversee the recruitment of junior team Captains/managers.
  • Ensure that, where appropriate, junior players have the opportunity to progress via the EH Player Pathway System.
  • Liaise with Junior Head Coach and Junior Team Managers in all aspects of Junior performance and development including the continuing growth of junior membership.
  • Assist the Junior Head Coach in recruiting and developing volunteer coaches and parent helpers for junior training sessions.
  • Ensure that East Junior Hockey League/Cup entries are made, co-ordinated and communicated and that teams are prepared for competitions.
  • Ensure that junior development is properly represented at senior team selection.
  • Be aware of the Clubs policy on Safeguarding and Protecting young people in hockey.

Good organisation, establish a strong club presence, problem solver.

Training / Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge needed
Working knowledge of the club and league.

Estimate time required to give for role
4-5 hours per month in addition to assisting with Saturday morning training as required.
