The last day of November proved to be noteworthy as a number of firsts were recorded. The women's threes finally gained that elusive first win with a 3-1 win over Colchester 4s - it's a well deserved reward for persistence, patience and no shortage of perspiration. It's fair to say that the result has been coming with recent games being single goal affairs. It was great to see the delight on the players' and supporters' faces and they can look forward to their game against Sudbury with greater positivity. We should also mention Jilly Hill's most welcome return.
Another first was seen at IES as Rupert Long, just 12 years old and a recent recruit to the development team, scored his first goal for the club. Rupert gives his all in each game and his performances belie his lack of hockey experience .With fellow 'youngsters' Felix, Codie and Brodie performing consistently, the development team is proving its worth indeed.
Elsewhere, the Women's free-scoring 1s gained a comfortable 3-1 win over IES2 to remain in first place as we head towards their final pre-Christmas fixture against Christchurch 1. The women's 2s may have achieved a first with the number of entries into the opponent's 'D' without scoring! The result was a frustrating 0-0 draw with Framlingham. However, they now lie 5th, just 3 points off a top-three position.
The men continued the unbeaten theme for the day. The first team secured a hard-earned 5-2 win over BusySt Edmund's 3s and are just 1 point behind first place following Colchester's win over IES. They face Sudbury 2 at home this week with everything to play for. The twos now sit in the top five after a walkover win following North Norfolk's concession. Their next match is a trip to face Broadland Exiles - no easy chllenge against unbeaten league leaders so best of luck. The thirds moved into 5th position with a 3-1 away victory against Cranes. A positive result against Sudbury 3s this week could see them enter the top three! Finally, the men's 4s/development team gained a welcome win away to IES development following three heavy defeats. They too can look to the home game with Sudbury 4s with more confidence.
With a full programme of home games starting at 1130 this week do come along and support the teams - they really do appreciate the support! If you can stay for the games night as well then please do - tickets are still available.
