A weekend of ups and downs...

A weekend of ups and downs...

Denis Keegan10 Feb - 11:19

A harder weekend for the men...

After last week, when our teams took so many of the points that were available, it proved to be a weekend when points were much harder to come by, though the women's 1s and Mens 3s continued their winning ways.

The women's first team travelled to Harleston and came away with the 3 points after a hard-earned 2:1 victory, which was enough see them heading the table; and with a 2 point buffer over Ipswich, they will travel to Bury looking for anothe victory to maintain their title charge. The women's second team secured a well earned point at home to Sudbury 3s, who came into the match just a point behind... The team now travel to face Bury 5s and the chance to leap-frog over them into second place in the league - it's proving to be a very good season! The Women's 3s had another tough task in their visit to Framlingham to face Fram 2s, eventually losing 4:0. It's been a challenging season but the team can reflect on improved performances and the 3 wins to their credit. They have the prospect of securing more as they develoip individually and as team - we're very proud of them!

For the men, the 3s put in another strong performance, but it was a disappointing weekend overall as the ones and twos lost, each conceding 5 goals, though both teams can look to the coming matches with more confidence as player availability improves. The third team continued their high-scoring ways with a 5:1win over Harleson Fives but with a home game against Dereham 3s, they can't rest on their laurels!. They now sit in 6th place and can look to a strong position as they chase a top 3 finish. Despite the weekend, the ones stay in the top four and are not out of contention, whilst the Twos are in seventh place but within reach of a top five finish. This weekend, both teams travel for tough games at Norwich City and Dereham. The Fours/Development team's winning run finally game to an end in a hard-fought and close 2:1 loss at home to Colchester 5s. Despite the loss, the team lies in 7th place - a super performance for a development team.
